The Victorian Rose in Biggs, CA

Updated: Dec 3, 2019

As a teenager I used to walk uptown to the Burgie, Greins Market or Pulliams to get my lunch and every day we would pass the Hastings House. We didn’t know the name of it, it just looked dilapidated and honestly a bit haunted. I could see past the neglect and dreamed of fixing it up some day… that or the hotel. Funny how life goes full circle sometimes. I am so happy that many years later one of my dream structures was purchased by a lovely couple and they proceeded in turning it into an amazing home and venue. Lucky me, I spent the afternoon with proprietor Wanda Nevins and she gave me my first tour since she and her husband have made it into the perfect spot to host any event!

View from B Street of this breathtaking Victorian home & venue.

I’m not going to go into great detail in this post, because I have hopes that Wanda will write a guest blog post one of these days outlining their journey and history with the building. But, I will give you a cliff notes version of my delightful tour!

There are 3 entrances to the home. Directly in the front facing B Street, on the side of 4th street and to the rear of the home. All three are flanked by unique porches that have been decorated for the upcoming Independence Day celebration.

The gorgeous yard is about a quarter of an acre and has the most unique gazebo! Tall trees shade the groomed gardens and there is plenty of room for a caterer, dj, live band or whatever entertainment you would like at your event!

This stained glass window is original to the home. The colors & rose were added during an update.

The small lounge couch in the nook is also original to the home and fits this and the other matching nook. How cool is that?

The Victorian Rose is a venue and available to rent for your event. You can find their website link here!
